About Prof. James Stephen
Prof. James Stephen Meka serves at Andhra University as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Full-Time Chair Professor. This Chair is a prestigious National Chair under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. James also serves as the Dean of Andhra University's Trans-disciplinary Research Hub (A.U. TDR-HUB) and as Mentor for the American Corner, Visakhapatnam.
Prof. James Stephen took additional charge as Registrar of the historic Andhra University, Visakhapatnam on 04-10-2023.
James Stephen holds more than 22 years of experience in teaching, research and administration. He previously held the position of Principal and Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at WISTM Engineering College in Visakhapatnam for more than nine years. In March 2020, he was appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as an Executive Council member for Andhra University. James currently serves on various institutional boards. He involves actively in leadership and policymaking.
James Stephen holds five Master's degrees, including M.C.A., M.Phil., M.Div., M.B.A., and M.Tech., as well as a Ph.D. in Computer Science & Systems Engineering from Andhra University in Visakhapatnam, India. He owns 45 Patents & Copyrights including Eleven National & International Grants. James published over 66 research papers in prestigious International Journals. He authored 13 Books, published by National & International Publishers and edited three books. James produced 12 Ph.D.s and is currently supervising eight research scholars at Andhra University. James is an expert in amalgamating technology with social needs. His groundbreaking work has proven to be highly effective in meeting the needs of various communities.
James was also a member of the Indian Higher Education Knowledge Delegation that travelled to the United States of America in 2018. He visited some of the premier institutions in the USA like MIT, Harvard, New York University, the University of Connecticut, University of Pennsylvania and Purdue University in USA. He also visited Stanford University. James received 12 National and International Awards including scholarship award of $3600 from Duke’s University, USA.
James gets frequent speaking opportunities on various platforms in India and abroad. He has delivered keynote addresses at prestigious international institutions such as Brunel University and London Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. James is known as a passionate teacher, researcher, administrator and also as social worker with a strong dedication towards community growth. His strength is multi-tasking with Integrity and Character.
James Stephen Meka lives with his beloved wife, Sailaja Reddi and two children, SonJames Alex Stewart, Daughter-Esther Sowseelya, in Visakhapatnam, INDIA.
